I Hear This ALL the Time

Client: Amy, my doctor said I should try yoga to help with my (insert almost any health or wellness issue here).

Me: Great! I agree. What else did they say?

Client: That was pretty much it.

Me: What's your plan?

Client: I have no idea what to do next? Do I just find a class somewhere?

Me: Let's talk.

The good news is more health and wellness practitioners are recommending yoga to their patients. This has led to millions of people trying yoga. Unfortunately, the recommendations aren't specific enough, leading to about half of the people who try, to quit without reaping the amazing benefits of yoga. Why?

Yoga is a very broad and diverse practice. There are many styles of yoga. Some require very little to no movement, such as Yoga Nidra, and some that are extremely challenging and only for the most fit yoga practitioner.

Additionally, if you are exploring yoga and you have an existing physical or mental health concern, you need to know how to keep yourself safe in a class. What does this mean?

Keeping yourself safe means knowing how to adapt yoga to meet your specific needs. This class will teach you exactly that.

Beautiful, but the last thing you want is to end up in a class like this if you are a beginner.

Unfortunately, 30 million people try yoga each year but quit. Why? They end up in the wrong class doing the wrong kind of yoga for their health issues and goals.

Yoga can be like this OR it can be VERY gentle with movements that everyone can do in a class or at home.

All YOU need is a little education and guidance to find a healing practice that works for you.

You are Unique

Your health concerns are unique. Your body is unique. How do you know if yoga is right for you?

Yoga is amazing because it can be adapted for literally anyone. However, yoga can also be dangerous if you end up in the wrong class and don't know how to adapt the class to your individual needs.

Yoga for Your Health will help you discover a style of yoga to match your individual physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness concerns and teach you how to adapt your practice to match your specific abilities.

Research on Yoga and Health

According to Yoga Alliance, a nonprofit organization that works "to broaden access to yoga’s healing potential" there have been over 3500 quality studies on yoga and its health benefits.

The National Institute for Health created the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health to support research on alternative practices such as yoga. As a result, yoga is more commonly being integrated into traditional medicine due to its many benefits.

In this course, you'll be guided through what the research says about yoga for YOUR health and wellness concerns.

Amy Mayer OTD, OTR/L, RYT

I've been working with people with a variety of physical and mental health issues for nearly 30 years. I combine my doctorate degree in occupational therapy with extensive training in myofascial work, ergonomics, body alignment, yoga, natural movement, and stress management to design pain management strategies that work for my clients. My goal is to empower my clients to create a pain-free, high-quality life.

Yoga is a cost effective method of managing and even eliminating many health issues. As an occupational therapist and experienced yoga teacher, I love to adapt yoga to meet the needs of my clients. I want them to reap the benefits of yoga just as I have.
