Course Introduction and FAQ

Welcome!

This course is designed for people who experience any of the number of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) symptoms. Or perhaps you have a child or family member with TMD symptoms and are looking for ways to help them. As you will learn, TMD is a potentially debilitating problem growing in people of all ages. We can help!

Course Format

We suggest you give the course outline a scan before you get started. Doing this will help you get the big picture before diving into the details. It may seem like a lot at first glance, but we work hard to eliminate the fluff and provide exactly what we think you need to know to deal with your TMD both right now and in the future.

Start Where YOU Need Help Most

We anticipate that we will have people with a wide variety of and range of symptoms taking this course. Here are a few very quick recommendations.

If you have pain, skip right to the section titled Reducing Your Pain with Myofascial Release Self-Treatment.

  • When you are hurting, you don't care about all the other background information. However, do NOT skip learning the principles. The myofascial principles are what make this treatment effective. Do NOT skip anything in that section.
  • Please don't ignore the rest of the course. The rest of the knowledge and techniques we are providing will help you continue to heal and prevent flare-ups.

If you don't currently have pain, take the course in order or skip to the section that looks the most interesting to you. You will likely benefit the most from the section Using the Science of Fascia to Address Root Causes and Prevent Flare-Ups.

Reflections

You will find a "Refection" prompt at the end of several sections. We suggest you keep a notebook or journal to respond. At a minimum, take time to think about the questions or prompts as you go through the course.
