The Importance of a Strong Foundation of Fascia

Physical Fitness, Movement Competency or Functional Fitness (my preferred term)

Creating a solid foundation in your fascia before any fitness program (walking, running, gym workout, cross fit, pickleball, yoga, etc.) is key to your success in ANY activity; however, not many fitness programs for women start by looking at the existing foundation or the fascia unless you are an elite athlete but even then, they may not. I don’t know any professional athletes, but I do know a couple of pretty serious amateur athletes. I am quite sure they would agree with me. You'll meet one later in this course.

Creating a solid foundation BEFORE you start and exercise program will:

  • Help you avoid injuries.
  • Accelerate your progress.
  • Help you transfer your gains into the real world.
  • Help you feel better and look better. Better posture alone does this!
  • Give you more confidence to try more challenging activities in your fitness life and your daily life!

THIS COURSE IS NOT ABOUT BECOMING AN ATHLETE! But if that is what you want this course will benefit your immensely.

Mind and Spirit

Being a woman in our culture can be very challenging and offer us many mixed messages. My mom pushed me hard to study and get a good education. She wanted me to have my own career (that she gave up to raise me and my three brothers). However, she also assigned all the inside housework to me (not my brothers) and told me I needed to learn how to iron so I could iron my future husband's shirts. I was a teenager. And of course she was counting on me for grandkids. WHAT? Do all the housework, raise kids AND have a great career? Well, that is what I did. ALL of it, including the ironing and it left no time for me.

I've always cared about my health, and I've always tried to incorporate exercise, better eating and some mindfulness or meditation but I rarely felt like I was getting anywhere. I of course, did not know then what I know now. Today, even though I'm in a 57-year-old body I feel better and more confident than ever. Caring for my mind and spirit has a lot to do with that. How does fascia fit in? You'll learn this as we go through the course, but here's what you can experience with attention to the fascia.

Paying attention to your fascia can help you:

  • Feel more confident in your body.
  • Give you a greater sense of control over your current and future health.
  • Feel safer in your body.
  • Help you feel your emotions more accurately.
  • Understand your body differently.
  • Value your body differently.
